How to detect cat urine?
Aside from searching through your home for vertical urine marks, using a blacklight flashlight is the easiest way to detect unseen cat urine.
If you suspect your cat is spraying around your home, but you can’t identify any soiled surfaces, your suspicions may simply be unwarranted (hopefully, right?). However, if you still smell urine around your home, especially a distance from your cat’s litter box, then purchasing a UV blacklight is the easiest way to find out if and where your cat is urinating.
Blacklight for cat urine?
Purchasing a UV blacklight is the best way to detect cat urine around your home. When purchasing a blacklight, make sure to purchase one that produces the optimal wavelength of UV light. Dog urine and cat urine are slightly different liquids. Therefore, detecting each will require a separate blacklight that produces the optimal wavelength of UV light.
In general, blacklights that produce UV light between 365 and 385 nanometers are the best for detecting cat urine. A blacklight that produces the optimal level of UV light will allow you to spot cat urine throughout your home. After you get your blacklight, turn off the lights in your house, shine the light and look for stains that are glowing yellow or green.
Our Odor Detector Blacklight will help you easily locate all cat urine stains in your house or apartment!
How to get cat pee smell out of clothes
In the past, when your cat has had the occasional accident and soiled your clothes with urine, you likely found it hard to remove the urine’s odor from the fibers of your clothing. You probably scrubbed and scrubbed to no prevail. Sound familiar? Well, here’s what to do next time!
Pretreat your soiled clothing
Start by pretreating your soiled clothing before throwing it into the washing machine. Rinse out the stained area with clean, cool water. Next, blot the stained area to dry it with paper towels. Do not scrub the area. Scrubbing urine stains can drive the odor deeper into your clothing.
